Hello there! Welcome to my site. My name is Courtney and I would love to help you live a more purposeful life!
Several years ago, I decided to take a big chance on my dreams, left everything and everyone I knew and I moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting. I did print work, commercial work, plays, extra work and whatever bit parts I could snag. I waitressed, tended bar, and did a million and one other side gigs to pay the bills. Although I enjoyed the entertainment biz, the "hustle" became discouraging--along with the endless rejection--and I moved back home to Rhode Island after 4 years.
At first I felt awful, like a failure, and I was not sure that I was making the right decision to come home. However, what I eventually learned was that it was not the outcome that was the most important thing---it was, as they say, the journey. I had amazing experiences in NYC that shaped me, helped me live bigger, be bolder, pushed me to learn more about myself and get over some of my insecurities. Surprisingly, I also ended up inspiring others to live their dreams no matter where it takes them. I believe if it is in you, there is a reason for it! Although it may not bring you where you thought, I guarantee your life will have been richer and much happier for having opened yourself up to the possibilities. It's true that you don't always come out on top. You don't always win. But you CAN always learn, be open to changing, growing and sharing lessons with others.
"Failure" (and I would argue that it was not actually failure-- I would reframe that--but that is a subject for another time!) has been an amazing teacher in my life--humbling, painful, freeing at times...and it also has lead to some of my best work. Pursuing my dreams taught me the lessons I needed, helped me grow into the person I wanted to be and set me on a path to find my true calling---supporting and inspiring others. I began working as a life coach, inspirational speaker and eventually went back to school for my master's to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Holding a space for others and helping people live more fully and with more passion, addressing barriers and obstacles, continues to be extremely important to me. I hope that by returning to writing, blogging, speaking and pod casting, I can continue to expand and reach a wider audience.
And speaking of building an audience, I am also working in radio again as an on-air personality for the Cat Country 98.1 Morning Show! It has been so fun to get back into entertainment while also continuing my work in mental health. I am so grateful for this latest opportunity.
So, that's the scoop on me :) Thank you so much for stopping by and remember, you can always drop me a line! I have more projects in the works and if you subscribe to my newsletter, I will keep you in the loop and alert you to new posts and happenings.
